Hey Folks,

For the past few months we have been obsessing about the Farmhouse Design Style.

Every time we heard the term we jumped into it trying to see what was being said or shown. The more we saw and went deeper the more in LOVE we am getting into. We almost feel that this is a style that is all inclusive and does not change over time. This style also covers all timelines and features of different styles, be it Modern or Traditional or Transitional.

So here are 8 different Farmhouse Styles that we are bringing to you and focusing on the Front Door. Scroll down and have a blast!

  1. Modern Style Farmhouse Door

So what's so special about Farmhouse Style you would ask?

Well, we don't know and cannot put a finger on it .... why do we like it so much? May be because of the word Farm, maybe because it gave us a picture of the countryside or nature or the rustic-ness. All we know is that it makes us feel good. And why not Farmhouse Style? Have you looked at it?

"THE SETTING”

So the first and foremost is the setting of the home.

If it is a single Family Home it would look more like an authentic Farmhouse if the setting is true to the style - which is Rural Setting - with grassy fields all around, a hillock in the distance, a barn on the property and of course you have to have your own pond, and a swing on a big tree nearby! Is that an authentic setting or what?

And then there is Beautiful Orange ( typically the barn color so it can be seen from far),

Pale Aqua Greens & Blues (color of glass jars, water in the pond reflecting the sky, green pastures) ….. To name a few!

"THE SHAPES”

This is the final feature that encompasses everything:

  • You need the Gables(Roofline),

  • You need the Inclines(armchair),

  • You need the Protrusions(sinks),

  • You need the simple Undulations or Simple Lines that are not straight (follow the line of the hills & pastures),

  • You need the Knots on the wood (rustic beams),

  • You need Tall everything or height (as in tall ceilings & long beams),

  • You need the Unevenness as in rough hewn barn door,

  • You need the Shiplap wood,

  • You need the Handcut pillars,

  • You need Spindles of the stairs ….well you get the idea ….as the list is endless!!

This rough cut and natural look of everything is probably what draws us so close to this style.

And just as nature in its true form is beautiful, we feel this style in its true soft lines & roughness and rustic nature is truly beautiful.

But for Design & Style’s sake we are borrowing this style and making it our own, making it stylish, Marrying the Rustic with the Modern and all other styles in between!

7. Traditional Style Farmhouse Door

So coming back to the Doors -

What else is one of the most important things other than the Front Door?

The Front Door is the window (or the door) to your Home. When you call people to your home that’s what they open and come in or you open & welcome them in. The Front Door is what people see first when they drive or walk by your House. So if it is so important let’s focus on it for a bit today and for all the days to come.

8. Barn Style Farmhouse Door
